About Renee and Kristin.

Displays are an integral part of children’s departments in public libraries.
This website was created to explore how to best catalog displays. The displays
being addressed here are nonfiction/fiction book pairing displays in our fictional
library–The Maine Library, Children’s Department.
Why Create Displays?

“Displays are a wonderful way to explore new ideas and generate interest in library programs. A display can capture the attention of a new patron who has never been to the library before, and even patrons that come in every day! Our goal with our book pairing displays is to inspire children, families, educators, and everyone else in our community to explore the library and all of its fantastic resources.”
-Renee McManus

Why a cataloging policy for displays?
“Displays are a fantastic way to highlight books throughout the year. However, the staff and librarians charged with creating displays rotates monthly. A cataloging policy that highlights which books are used for the displays will make the process easier for everyone!”
